Where to dispose of concrete and brick
Clean concrete, brick and block are heavy but recyclable. Construction and demolition recyclers often crush them into gravel, and some take clean loads for a lower fee than a landfill.
How to do it
- Keep the load clean: no trash, wood or dirt mixed in, which can raise the fee.
- Call ahead about rebar, which some recyclers accept and others don't.
- Check your vehicle's payload. A pickup bed of concrete can easily exceed it.
- For large slabs, a dumpster made for heavy debris is often cheaper than multiple trips.
What to avoid
- Don't overload a standard dumpster. Most have weight limits that concrete exceeds quickly.
